Hatmaking with Carolann Wachter returns
!
By popular demand, we’re
offering another amazing hat making workshop with New York hat and clothing
designer Carolann Wachter! Carolann will lead students to design their own hat
by starting from a basic 6 piece crown pattern and then creating a custom brim
size and shape. Using a head form, she will also show how to add
embellishing details like topstitching, ribbon, and more. If you missed the
first one, get in on the second! Hats will be completed in one class with
the option to finish embellishing at home. Students will need to bring ¾
-1yd of stiff fabric (canvas or cotton duck), 26 inches of 1” wide belting or
grosgrain ribbon, ½ yard of lining, matching thread. Machine sewing experience
required. $75

something special for yourself. Learn the basics of soldering with an iron,
what to use and why, how to achieve a smooth and shiny finish, and how to
solder a jump ring to your piece for wearing. Most students make 2 pendants

create unique art. An additional glass-cutting tutorial will be provided for
inquiring minds!
Bring your favorite scrapbook materials, old books,
transparencies, antique cards, maps, letters, candy wrappers, lace, fabric,
pressed flowers, photocopied pictures and stamps. I’ll have a small grab-bag of
materials to choose from. All soldering materials and tools will be provided
during the class. $95
